Try to keep your soul young and quivering right up to old age.

When you reach a big milestone birthday you start reflecting on all the amazing things you have done, the regrets you have and the dreams you have for the future.

I’m just a girl from a farm in Limpopo that happened to move to the city on my own when I was 19. There was love lost and gained and I married just before another big milestone birthday. We just also celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary. We survived 6 years of IVF and have 2 kids through surrogacy – plus 3 black cats. We’ve also travelled many places together and created a lot of memories along the way.

I’m not that sentimental, but…

I hold onto my childhood memories like there is no tomorrow. I still have my very first Barbie with her original jumpsuit; my paper dolls (is that still a thing?); a mini kids Tupperware set; my angel doll; and much more (don’t tell my husband);

As a kid I loved to watch Care Bears, Popples, He-Man, ThunderCats, Garfield, The Amazing Adventures of Morph (that clay dude), Around the World with Willy Fog, Dogtanian and the 3 Muskehounds, The Smurfs, Knight Rider, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, The A-Team, MacGyver, Rainbow Brite, The Gummi Bears… and when there is a remake of (most) of these shows I will take a look and remember just how much I loved it back in the day.

Never be a complete grown-up… hold onto your childhood forever!

Most people become so caught up in being an adult that they forget to have fun. I simply refuse to…

If there is a toy I want, I will buy it and put it on my desk or in my handbag. I’ll admire it and imagine what I adventures could have had with it… and then I go and have an adventure.

Walk barefoot – I don’t mean walk barefoot in a mall, that would just be gross! When you walk to your car, with your kids outside, on the beach… The view is different when you’re not wearing heels.

Win and connect with your inner-child again!

To help 2 people connect to their inner-child I am giving away 2 Care Bear prizes sponsored by Gammatek. The first prize is 2 Care Bears and the second prize is 1 Care Bear. They are perfect to keep on your desk or even to play with. See the widget below for entry details.

  10. My favourite show in the 80s was Robotech and I just rewatched season 1 last year, more than years later, and still loved every single minute of it! Imagine my surprise when I was in LA last year and walked past the offices of the production company which ‘produced’ the show back then. Thanks for the memories Harmony Gold! Simply had to snap a selfie.
